Founder and Chief Executive Officer-Akib Ali
Mr. Akib Ali is the Founder and CEO of Acumen Capital Management, LLC and is responsible for the management of all aspects of the company. He founded the firm in 2013 with the intention to focus on distressed real estate solutions. Prior to forming Acumen, Mr. Ali was a student at the Real Estate Wealth Academy where he sharpened his knowledge and understanding of the world of real estate invesments. Under the direct tutelage of one of the Northeast’s premier real estate investors, Mr. Ali has gained a high degree of acumen in real estate investing. Prior to this, Mr. Ali was an Underwriting Manager at Great American Insurance Group where he managed a team of underwriters and focused on the insurance risk analysis of partnership risks such as Hedge Funds, Private Equity Firms, Real Estate Funds, Fund of Funds, Venture Capital Firms, Mezzanine Debt Funds and other General Partnerships. Mr Ali’s underwriting process included the extensive review of private placement memorandums for various fund strategies that allowed him to gain a macro and micro understanding into the workings of different investment philosophies, including real estate investing. Previously, Mr. Ali worked at American International Group, where he underwrote Financial Insitutions risks and helped to design, implement and take part in the companies’ Mentorship Program, which gave him the opportunity to be mentored by the CFO of the Small Business Unit. Mr. Ali graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Biological Science and also later returned to Rutgers University to receive his MBA with a dual major in Finance and Management. Mr. Ali also holds the RPLU (Registered Professional Liability Underwriter) designation and is currently preparing to pursue a law degree.
